FIRE

It is 115 degrees today and the Lenexa Fire Department was called to an enormous apartment building fire.  In my wildest dreams I cannot imagine how it hot was for the guys fighting the fire.  Since Bob is part of the fire investigation team for LFD, not only did he spend many hours fighting the fire during the day, later he went back to investigate the cause of the fire.  Below are pictures of the fire.

We have started to see a glimpse of Paxton's little smile and I can't get enough of it!

Cousins

At first Madilyn didn't have any interest in Paxton.  When she visited him at the hospital she stared at him.  Then she started saying, "Paxton is little, very little!"  The weeks following she continued to look at  him from a distance until last Sunday at family dinner.  She looked at me holding Paxton and said "hold him!"  When I look at the picture it makes my heart warm, because I look forward to the two of them becoming buddies!:)

Paxton is 1 month old

It seems impossible that Paxton is already a month old. I understand the meaning of the phrase "time flies!"

Some memories of his first month:
At about 3 weeks old he started sleeping in the Pack and Play next to our bed (instead of with us in our bed.) However one of my favorite moments with him his snuggling in our bed face to face!
At Paxton's first doctor's appointment he weighed 6lbs 13 ounces (an ounce over his birth weight). When we returned 2 weeks later he weighed only 6lbs and 6 ounces. It broke my heart! However over the course of a week he gained 11 ounces and at 4 weeks old he weighed 7 lbs 1 ounce! We figured the weight loss was due to his easy going personality, because he was pretty content sleeping 5 consecutive hours at night and we needed to wake and feed him! The days of 5 consecutive hours of sleep at night are over. He wakes to feed every 2-3 hours:). Oh and now that he is eating more, he is a much more content baby! He hardly cries unless he is getting a bath, diaper change or hungry.
He has also become more independent, sitting in his vibrating chair and swing for short amounts of time.

Lauren and Clay Get Married!!!

Lauren and Clay married on June 25th at Meadowview Gardens!  It was a perfectly humid day.  Lauren looked beautiful and the day was perfectly organized and relaxing (with the exception of having a 3 week old to feed, calm, and love on).  Since the wedding was outdoors, Paxton and my sister in law Dana enjoyed the wedding from indoors since I was the matron of honor and Bob and usher!  Below are pictures of the beautiful day!
