All good things must come to an end..

It's true.  I return to work in exactly one week, but I am not letting it get me down.  Bob and Ashley will be caring for Paxton while I am at work so he has the best care possible.  However, I will miss him.  It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of the time we will spend apart.  Now we will have more time apart (at least when he is awake) than we will have time together.  That stings deep into the gut of stomach.  It makes me question whether I should work.  I lay in bed thinking how we could we make it work so that I could stay home.  I could sell my car?  We could all wear the same clothes for 5 year?  We would never leave the house and eat raumen noodles..you see where this is going?  It's not in the cards for me to stay home!  Even if it were financially possible I don't know if I could give up a job I really love at a place where I really love working.  So, I am returning to work in a week and making the best out of my last week!  Playing with my little guy, going on a date with my husband, celebrating my dad's 60th and Grandpas 85th birthday and snuggling my little guy.  Life is good!

Football and Family

This is how Bob watches football these days.  Pretty creative!  (Ignore the weird eye commercial that happened to be on when the picture was taken.)

Fun with our little guy

Between the two of us we seem to capture lots of Paxton!  He is very busy these days kicking his legs like crazy, smiling, tummy time (not his favorite), going on walks, visiting Orange Leaf, watering the new plants and playing with friends.  Life is good, oh so good!

Chiefs? or Cowboys?  This year it is a no brainer.  He is a Cowboys fan.

Hanging out on the back deck on a chilly September afternoon.

Backyard Landscape Project

Our backyard needs some serious TLC!  So we started with some landscaping against the back fence.  Thanks to my mom and step dad for their help!

Visitng Auntie Susan

Auntie Susan got a new job at Shelter Insurance and her office is very close to us, which we love and so we went to visit her today.

He loves his Auntie!

Gymboree Class

Paxton and Finnley are officially enrolled in Gymboree classes!  They get to practice tummy time, sing, and do lots of other fun things!  Although Paxton wouldn't know much about all of the fun things yet..this time he cried and ate the entire time until the last 10 minutes! Hopefully the next class he will get to enjoy it more.

Blue Springs BBQ Contest

Last year Donkey Punch placed first in hometown team and this year they didn't do as well.  Bob actually had to work so he wasn't able to submit the chicken this year (Ben Murray did.!  It was Paxton's first BBQ Contest.  He has a bib that Dena made for him that says Donkey Punch Apprentice but he spit up so much on it (shocker that he spit up so much) that I didn't get a picture.  Next contest in the American Royal!

Mom's 60th Birthday

My mom turned 60 years old this month and we had my mom and Don's family over for a special dinner including all of her favorite foods.  Our neighbor came over and took a picture of the whole family in our backyard.

This picture makes me laugh...Reggie, the "photographer" must have been practicing his shot

The day after my mom's birthday we went to her work to surprise her with a catered lunch for her, and her lunch mates!  It was fun meeting her kids and seeing her classroom.  One of her students asked Paxton's name and after I told him (he is 4 years old with developmental delays!) he said, "Awesome!"  It made me smile!  Paxton really enjoyed it but you couldn't tell that by looking at the picture..

3 months old

Our little guy is 3 months old! He is ticklish under his neck and belly. He has started to roll from his belly to his back (at least once, but that counts?!). He mostly sleeps through the night 8:00pm-5:00 or 6:00 am, then he nurses and snuggles me in bed until 7:30-8:00 and I love it!  He loves grabbing things and putting them into his mouth.  Lately, he has become more interested in Melvin!

This picture makes me smile!  He spends a lot of time in the Baby Bjorn, especially at the grocery store!

On Labor Day Nana, Paxton, Madilyn and I walked to the park near our house!  Paxton swinging for the first time, with Nana!

Talk about over stimulation??!!  This thing has it all, and he is starting to enjoy it!

Big guy at 3 months!  I love the rolls around his legs!

Cousin Day-First Edition

Lauren and I decided to start a cousin tradition.   The first Saturday of the month we will have "cousin day" where we do something fun for Madilyn and Paxton.  For now, most of the activities are intended to entertain Madilyn and Paxton naps watches.  Today we had a picnic at the Lee's Summit Early Childhood School Playgroud.  When Lauren told Madilyn they were going to the park she said, "I need to get my life jacket!" I think she believes that all parks are water parks!  She had a great time swinging and going to each part of the park saying, "Mine!"  Paxton stayed in the shade and napped.

She really adores him!

Meg and Josh's reception

Josh works at the fire station with Bob and he recently married Megan a few months earlier during a small ceromony.  Then they celebrated with friends/co-workers at a Lenexa park. It is always so much fun to be with Bob's work buddies. So many of them have kids the same age as Paxton and they are a lot of fun!

A few of My Favorite Things

A few of my favorite things at 12 weeks:

I love when I nurse and/or cradle Pax in my arms he reaches his hand up and rests it on my chest.

He loves it when I kiss his cheeks and neck and today while I was kissing him he started to giggle.  An actual giggle!  There is nothing better than that sound.

I love that we have somewhat of routine of eating, playing and then resting (and he's resting now!).

He already loves to read.
