Dad's First Post

It's not that I have resisted being a part of this blog, I just didn't want to butt in on the wonderful life journal Ashley has worked so hard to put together. I check it just as others do, and despite the fact I lived it and none of what gets posted is news to me, I enjoy reading the aspects of our family life that were deemed important enough to share with the world!
What do I deem to be important enough to share with the world? I am pretty active in sharing photos and videos with family and friends, but I rarely get an opportunity to share my feelings when those moments in time are captured. Ashley and I have taken a minimum of 12,000 photos of Paxton in his first year of life, and every one of them has a story. And while I would love to sit down and tell the story of every one of them, it is just not practical.
So, from a practical sense, what do I deem important enough to share with the world? It will always be practical and appropriate to share with the world those moments that make everything worth it and nothing else matter. Moments that reinforce all decisions in life that have led me to where I am today. Moments that make me proud to be a father and a husband. Moments captured in a picture, although left to our own interpretation as to what made it important, will make us smile. Moments like this.......

Ashley and Paxton at "Music in the Park" (Kids Night) in Downtown Lee's Summit on May 25, 2012. A small peek in the window to how much our little man means to Ashley and I and how we will always, as long as he lets us, take advantage of opportunities to expose him to the joys of life.

Pool Baby

Our neighborhood pool opened this weekend which couldn't happen sooner since the weather has been hot, hot, hot and I am officially done with work and summer break has arrived!!
So off to the pool we went!! I am tellin' ya taking Pax to the pool is an absolute blast. He smiles and giggles the entire time! So far he lives sitting on the edge of the pool watching the kids play in the pool. Oh and he loves jumping in the pool!

Even better his buddy Liam came to swim too and let P borrowed his raft!

Mother's Day

We tried out Ginger Sue's this morning for breakfast with my family and it is my new favorite place to eat breakfast. I know Pax loved it because he scarfed down some apple cinnamon pancakes, biscuits, and omelet. The kid loves to eat, he loves eating so much that he makes fists with his hands and shakes with excitement when food appears in front of him.
Then we spent the afternoon at Deanna Rose Farmstead. Bob bought me a nice camera for my birthday so today was a fun day to practice using it which explains why we have lots of pictures. Now I need to take the time to learn how to edit photos..in time I will learn!

He really wanted to get his hands on the bottle!

Mostly he was entertained by the rocks and...

sticks and..

puddles.

The park at Deanna Rose was a lot of fun.

Going down the slide on his own for the first time!

Highlights of our 11 month old

Paxton is 11 months old and I want him to stay this age forever.

We attempted the March of Dimes walk but we were unable to walk due to thunderstorms. The highlight of the rainy trip was meeting Griffin Happ!

Playing with cousin LJ!

So curious about everything!

Unforgettable moments at this age!
He loves his shape sorter..

He brings us book after book to read. If you don't read it right away he puts the book in your face and grunts!
He is fast on his feet!
He has been sick with hand, foot mouth disease and had a terrible cold. His cold was so terrible that he coughed and/or sneezed so hard that he burst a blood vessel in his eye abusing his eye to be bright red for a week.
He spins round and round!
He is a dancing machine.
Loves to be outside.
He eats anything except avocado and bananas.
I think he is saying "that"
More smiley at this age.
Loves to lay on Melvin's pillow.
Entertained by watching dad mow the grass.
