23 weeks and registering

Last weekend we attempted to register at Babies R Us. It is so overwhelming! Do you get a jogging stroller and regular stroller? What if the toddler seat doesn't fit in the jogging stroller? I know organic items are healthier, but they are so expensive! I quickly figured out I hadn't done my research. Which diapers are we going to use? Which is the safest car seat? Needless to say, my sister is going with me to register again! She already looked at my registry and said those aren't good receiving blankets because they are harder to swaddle because of their shape! Who knew? We have a lot to learn, but I figure we will figure it out as we go!

21 Weeks and blizzard

We had over a foot of snow this past week!  It is being called the blizzard of 2011, so Bob and I tried to be creative about taking a weekly picture and spray painted in the snow (which can't be good for the environment!).  It's hard to tell in the picture but I am carrying him so low, and many people comment that I am carrying him low.  It also amazes me how much I like being pregnant (so far!).  I thought I would feel fat, but instead I am embracing the idea of having a big belly!

Nursey and Name

Last night Bob and I decided that we needed to choose a name for our little guy because Bob started calling him Carlos from the movie Hangover and I really didn't like it.  Since we both love the names Paxton and Maddox  we wrote both names on a piece of paper, crumpled them up and put them in a hat and Bob drew Paxton.  So Paxton Welch is his name.  I especially have fallen in  love with the name Paxton because it means "peace".  We are unsure about about a middle name.  One thing at a time, right?  I love having a name to call him!
Last weekend, after MANY weeks searching on Craigslist, I finally found a mid-century, clean lined, solid wood dresser for cheap that we could refinish and make into a changing table.  Our crib is two toned, dark and white wood, so the dresser will be the same.  I posted some pictures below of the dresser.  It needs some serious TLC!

The dresser/changing table.  It needs pulls, and refinishing.

The dresser after Bob sanded the front of the drawers today.  The top will be white and the rest will be a dark stain.  I hope it turns out!  I may be crazy, but I would love for Paxton to have this dresser for a long time!

Snow Days!

A picture of a typical morning of the 4 snow days we have had in the past two weeks!  Melvin sure enjoys snow days.

19 and 1/2 weeks

Our little guy is 19 and 1/2 weeks along. Lately we talk often about names and the two names that we always go back to as favorites are Paxton and Maddox.
Also, in the past few weeks I have felt him moving, he is moving so much that last week Bob could feel the movement on my belly.
This week Bob also painted his room gray! The color turned out great and I can't wait to brighten the room with yellows and greens.
I think one of the most surprising parts about pregnant is the generosity and kindness of people. I am amazed at all of the little gifts (books, cards, pajamas and oufits) he has already received and also friends who have been so generous in letting me borrow their maternity clothes.
I also have to admit being called "Little Mama!" makes my heart warm everytime someone says it. We can't wait to meet our little guy!

19 12/ Weeks. I don't love this picture, but I wanted to take the picture in front of the box because it's his crib!

18 Week Sonogram

We had another sonogram at 18 weeks and 5 days. HE (I was so worried that were going to tell us he wasn't a boy and they were wrong the first time!) looked healthy. Bob uploaded some of the video to Youtube so that we could share it with our family, so the clip below is about 3 minutes of the sonogram.
